Lowrie is the back up infielder, Velazquez is back.

Terry Francona has announced that Jed Lowrie will be the back up infielder for the ALDS. It was for the most part an expected move, with Nick Green still not 100% and with Chris Woodward who doesn't have a lot of major league experience and also is with his wife, who recently gave birth. Most of Red Sox Nation worried that Jed Lowrie would not be able to contribute 100%, but Lowrie settled that worry in my eyes with him hitting his 1st career grand slam the last weekend of the regular season against the Indians. For insurance purposes the Red Sox added shortstop Gil Velazquez to their clubhouse. On Monday Velazquez would of became a free agent.
