Josh Beckett has been scratched from his start tonight against the Toronto Blue Jays, with what the Red Sox are calling mild back spasms. They have announced Michael Bowden taking the mound in place of Beckett.
Bowden has appeared in 6 games for the Sox this year in relief appearances, has a 7.84 ERA, pitching 10.1 innings, giving up 9 earned runs, 5 walks and 7 strikeouts.
