I am going to start off with the news of Curt Schilling and David Ortiz. When Schilling made the announcement he was going to have season ending surgery. Instant speculation happened. Yes, Schilling really didn't know the extent of his injury. That was to be determined when he went under the knife. The first thought that ran across my mind was the end of Curt Schilling in a Red Sox uniform. It filled me with disappointment and at the same time proud that I have had the chance to see him wear a Red Sox uniform and really show Red Sox Nation what kind of guy he really his. I have nothing but the utmost respect for him. For his dedication, work ethnic, and pride of being part of the Red Sox Organization. I want to wish Curt the best with his recovery! I also want to thank you for the memories!
On to David Ortiz. I honestly thought Big Papi was going to miss more than what was speculated. Wrist injuries are usually nagging and take forever to heal. It would be awesome if we could see Papi for the up coming Yankees series.
With the Sox taking 2 out of 3 from Arizona in the final series of the homestand. The Red Sox are traveling to Houston on their off day. Here are some of my thoughts I have had over the past week while watching the Sox games.
- We are 1/2 way thru the season and hold a 1 game lead over Tampa Bay. I would of never thought I would say that. Granted the TB over the last 5-7 years have been building their franchise. Yes they have had some quality veterans sign with them in the past. But for the most part most of the guys are the team are young and have been developed from the Rays' minor league affiliations. We have seen a no hitter by Jon Lester. We have seen Manny break into the record books with hitting his 500th HR. Jacoby Ellsbury has and will break stolen base records. The Sox are fortunate to be where they stand in the standing with all the injuries we have had to overcome. The list seems endless with all the players that have hit the DL. Hopefully the Sox will be more fortunate and healthy so they can seperate themselves in the standings.
