Pedroia to short?

Starting today I will make an effort to blog daily about the Red Sox hot stove, rumors, and news. Today ESPN's Hall of Famer baseball analysts, Peter Gammons' reported that the Red Sox have approached Sox 2nd baseman Dustin Pedroia about the possibility of making the move to the other side of the diamond to play short. Pedroia had this to say ....

"They've asked me if I think I could play shortstop," Pedroia told Gammons.
"They've put it out there and I've told them I'm all for it. I can do it. I
can't wait for Tito [Terry Francona] to call me and ask, 'Can you do it?' I can
do it. I really want to do it."
The Sox need to do something now that the Blue Jays have signed Alex Gonzalez. Today a team source for the Red Sox released a statement stating that the Red Sox will exhaust all efforts whether it be by trade or the free agency market before they will put Pedroia at short.

In my opinion, I don't see this happening. I think the Red Sox will pick someone up via free agency or trade. Who it will be I honestly don't know. I would love to see Miquel Tejada come to Boston. I think he would be a perfect fit. Marco Scutaro is someone I personally don't want to see come to Boston. Granted he had a stand out season last year. However, its really the first stellar season he has had that is above average. I would love to see a trade take place and bring Hanley Ramirez back to Boston but again the chance of that is slim to none.
