With the Red Sox clinching the American League wild card last night, as expected Terry Francona is giving the everday day players some games off. Today Terry Francona spoke to the media. Francona made it very clear that it is very important that the everday starters get some much need time off, especially Jacoby Ellsbury and Dustin Pedroia. Francona was asked how important the last week of the season was to build momentum, he responded "zero" Francona went on to say that "the next five games are kid of cosmetic."
Josh Beckett today had a bullpen side session today throwing 62 pitches and later said that everything went great. Mike Lowell said that everything has repsonded well to synvisc/cortisone injection.
