The turning point of the season

Was last night the change of momentum for the Red Sox? After Kevin Youkilis charged the mound after being hit by a pitch from Detroit Tigers pitcher Rick Portcello? Did it bring the team together as one and pull them out of this August skid we have been seeing? In 2004, when Alex Rodriguez stepped into the box and Bronson Arroyo beaned him, The scenario that escalated after will be remembered by many Sox fans forever and passed on for generations. Varitek gets in a scrap with A-Rod and the benches clear. To me in '04 that was the turning point in the season. I personally feel with what happened last night is the turning point of the season for the Sox. On top of that Tito getting tossed for arguing a call on an attempt of a stolen base by J.D. Drew. After those moments it felt like I was watching a different team. A team that was playing for something different.

John Smoltz tenure Boston seems to be over. He has made it clear he wants no part of coming out of the bullpen in a reliever position. He has cleared waivers and now its up to the Sox management to either simply release him or to trade him. I was hoping to see Smoltzy come back strong as ever and have a great return. I am bummed it comes down to this but clearly he wasn't able to perform to my standards and obviously The Sox organization.
