Well another weekend of Red Sox baseball has gone by. The Sox went into todays game needing a win to split the 4 game series with the Rays. As normal Brad Penny was shaky and didnt settle down until it was too late. It seems like every start Penny makes he has one inning early that burries him. He has been fortunate that the Sox offensively could dig him out of the holes to give him a 2-0 record before todays start. Today Penny pitched 6 innings, 3 earned runs with 8 strike outs and 2 free passes. Offensively the Sox scored their runs by J.D. Drew hitting a bases loaded single in the top of the 1st. In the 8th Kevin Youkilis hit his team leading 6th HR in the top of the 8th with Dustin Pedroia on base. Tampa Bay's Carl Crawford Stole the show stealing 6 stolen bases.
The past two games I was asked to host the Sawxheads.com live Red Sox blog. If you are ever home watching the game and want to chat Sox with other Sox fans from around the country I highly recommend it. I was glad the were kind enough to ask me to do it. I enjoyed meeting and chatting with new Sox fan/friends. The topic of the day was on Red Sox Nation President and NESN analysist Jerry Remy and where he has been. As most of you know Jerry has been absent from the booth with Buck Martinez taking his place Fri. and Sat. night and today Don Orsillo has Theo Epstein and Tony Mazzarotti of the Boston Globe join him in the booth. Today on Twitter.com Jerry Remy said this...
Hi everyone [it's] Jerry. Thx for . . . your concern. In February, I had a case
of pneumonia and a bad infection followed . . .
I went off to Spring Training without ever having a chance to completely
recuperate. I am paying the price now . . .
I've decided to take some time off to fully recover. Hopefully it'll be a short time. I
miss doing the games! Thanks again, Jerry.
Almost forgot . . . Go Sox. Jerry.
The Red Sox now travel to New York City to play the NY Yankees in their new stadium for a 2 game series. Then Wednesday they start a 2 game series at Fenway Park against the Cleveland Indians. Then the Tampa Bay Rays come into town for a weekend series.
